I rarely write reviews but I had to take a moment to share my experience so far with Salt Spring Embrace. The entire team has been an absolute joy to work with in the care for our mom. All the caregivers are extremely communicative, professional, and are excellent problem-solvers. They are proactive, compassionate, and intuitive in our moms care, anticipating her needs, and are genuinely kind-hearted people. They are real, down-to-earth people who treat those they care for like their own family. I have not met many people who really go above and beyond the way the team at Salt Spring Embrace does. Having them care for our mom is something she looks forward to each day, and is a true blessing in our life. 5 stars!

Our family stumbled upon Salt Spring Embrace via a random google search in June of 2022. Impressed by their website and the creative ways in which to utilize their many services, what also struck us were the delightfully warm names of their programs…Hug, Embrace, Full Embrace. These seemed to be people who cared. That turned out to be an understatement.
The particular needs of our mother, who suffers from dementia, centre around nutrition. Unable to feed herself in elder care, and with her care home staff being stretched so very thin, we decided to employ Salt Spring Embrace to feed Mom one meal a day. This was not a reflection on her elder care home as they are most loving and attentive. We just wanted to give Mom something extra…a scheduled visitor each day. Brandy and her skilled team have not only assisted Mom in building her health through good nutrition, but have engaged her mind through stimulating conversation. They are kind and interested in making a difference in the lives of elders during this chapter of their lives. One SSE staff said to me, “This is the best job I’ve ever had!” He genuinely enjoys his time spent with our Mom.
We cannot praise and thank Salt Spring Embrace enough. We sought their assistance to help Mom with nutrition. She has ended up with new friends who want to hear her stories as they share time together over a meal. And this has been the greatest gift of all. One sibling put it best: “I definitely think that Mom’s mealtime assistance is as much about interaction as it is about food. People are food too.”
